Eschweiler at Auction

8 Bdrms

Beautiful 1920s Eschweiler Tudor on Lake Drive.

On the corner of Lake Drive and Newton Avenue in southern Shorewood, just south of Atwater Park and not far from UWM.

This elegant Tudor Revival was built in 1929 for real estate developer Robert Hackett (of Hackett Avenue) and designed by the noted MKE archtecture firm of Eschweiler & Eschweiler (more details from Wisconsin Historical Society). We believe it's been empty for a while and it has definitely been listed several times over the last few years. According to Zillow, it was sold in February for $860k.

Now, it's offered via an auction - the Zillow listing mentions that it's a foreclosure auction. Meanwhile, it's listed for $583,000 in the local MLS. Note, the listing says that it's "waterfront" - this home is on the west side of Lake Drive, across the street from the homes that are on Lake Michigan.
