1880s MKE Firehouse

4500 Sq Feet

The 1880s former Fire House, former Kortsch Storage building, listed by Patrick Atkinson of P.A.S.T. LLC.

This 1880s firehouse in the Brady/Farwell neighborhood is once again for sale, for $470,000. The home was acquired by the sellers last year for $359,000.

The location is the corner of Bartlett Avenue and Irving Place. This is a couple of blocks west of Comet Cafe on Farwell and four blocks north of Brady. A great spot.

The building was originally erected in the 1880s and served as Ladder Company No. 5. The City of Milwaukee's website has an excellent history of the High Victorian Italianate-style building. After being decommissioned in the early 1900s, the building served Kortsch Moving and Storage for many years until the current owner purchased it last summer. OnMilwaukee.com has a long write-up about the sale and the current situation of the home as well as some architectural renderings of what the building might look like as a single-family residence.

A couple pictures and some details via the link below to Estately.
