Four-bedroom Russell Barr Williamson in Shorewood
This lovely Russell Barr Williamson home in Shorewood went on the market in late September and we finally have the opportunity to feature it. Williamson was an understudy to Frank Lloyd Wright and created many residences around Milwaukee's northshore.
The location is on Farwell, between Jarvis and Olive, and a few blocks west of Lake Drive. This is also two blocks north of St. Roberts.
This was built in 1923 for Agnes Keeley, Williamson's eventual Mother-in-Law, and bares a resemblance to Frank Lloyd Wright's Bogk House. The home was detailed in this JS Online article in 2013. We like the way this home has been modernized; It's a difficult thing to do with famous home and we respect the decisions the owner has done. We especially like the large living room (picture below) which retains originality but has obviously been upgraded. There's also a lovely yard in back.
