Joseph E. Uihlein Condo
3318 N Lake Drive Milwaukee [map]
3 Bedrooms / 4 Bathrooms
A three-bedroom condo located at the Joseph E. Uihlein House.
Up today is this beautiful three story condo, located at 3318 North Lake Drive, overlooking Lake Michigan.
This condo began life in 1907 as the Joseph E. Uihlein House and was designed by Milwaukee architects Kirchhoff & Rose. Joseph E. Uihlein Sr., son of August Uihlein, was born in 1875. The Uihlein brothers came from Germany to work at Joseph Schlitz's brewery in the mid-1800s. In 1875, Schlitz died in boat sinking off England, and control of the company was bequeathed the Uihlein brothers. Joseph E. served as vice president of the Schlitz Brewery in the mid-1900s. (An interesting Schlitz history exists here.)
The house was converted to multiple, beautiful condos about 2003. This is a three-bedroom, three-story unit with three and one-half bathrooms and over 2700 square feet. It has been fully modernized, yet retains some of its original architecture. Also, the building has a beautifully-landscaped backyard patio with views of the lake.
